Bob Paine, Co-Chair - Technical
Meteorologist & Environmental Professional
Mr. Paine is a Certified Consulting Meteorologist and a Qualified
Environmental Professional with 32 years of experience with
ENSR Corporation in Westford, MA. He has a Bachelor of Sciences
degree in Atmospheric Sciences from the State University of
New York at Albany, and a Masters Degree in Meteorology from
the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has conducted
wind assessment studies for for Medford and other clients,
such as Lehman College in Bronx, NY and at the water &
sewer authority in Genesee County, MI.
Fred Schlicher, Co-Chair -
Outreach
Public Relations & Marketing Professional
Mr. Schlicher is MA Climate Action Network's (MCAN) Program
Manager, with the primary responsibility of assisting MCAN's
municipal-level Chapters. He is a public relations and marketing
professional with over 20 years experience in energy and environmental
affairs. His current PR practice includes project and special
event management. He is a former journalist with a BA in English
from Southern Methodist University and is a graduate of the
Professional Certificate Projgram in Public Relations from
UCLA.
Susan Altman is the newest member
to the MCEC. Ms Altman has more than 25 years of experience
in communications and outreach, focusing on environmental
issues. She consulted for the Pew Institute for Ocean Science
on marine conservation topics during 2003-2006. Susan is vice
president of the Massachusetts Climate Action Network and
chairs the Medford Climate Action Network. In 2005 she founded
the Medford Environmental Alliance, which links many community
organizations and projects. She also co-founded the Massachusetts
Social Marketing Association and served on the board of directors
of the Mystic River Watershed Association from 2004-2006.
She holds a master's degree in environmental policy from Tufts
University and a B.A. in psychology from Vassar College.
Mike Camuso is a millwright tradesman
with over 20 years experience in power generation. He knows
clean energy will make a huge difference in our world. Mr.
Camuso has conducted extensive work in the commercial power
industry installing turbines (steam, gas, oil, coal, nuclear,
hydro) in power plants all over New England. He also maintains
and overhauls these turbines on a regular basis.
Jon Crowe was the Assistant Energy Efficiency Coordinator for the City of Medford prior to August, 2007. He now works as a Program Associate at the Northeast Regional Office of ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability. He serves on the steering committee for the Medford Environmental Alliance (MEA) and maintains the web sites for both MEA and MCEC.
Diana Duffy volunteered for the
City's Energy and Environment Office for eight months before
putting those skills to work managing residential energy efficiency
programs for a local utility. Diana brings both her commitment
to making Medford an even better place to live, and her experience
saving money on energy costs to her work with the MCEC.
Lois Grossman is an associate member of the MCEC and has been an environmental activist in Medford since 1982. The solar panels on her home attest to her commitment to renewable energy.
Mike Guigli is an engineer with
extensive technical and project management experience. He
will use this experience to review wind turbine project plans
and schedule. Additionally, Mr. Guigli is familiar with rotating
machinery and is keenly aware of the long-term maintenance
and reliability issues associated with having a successful
and sustainable wind turbine project.
Rick Sacco is a retired Account
Manager for the General Electric Power Systems Division. Mr.
Sacco has vast technical knowledge of industrial, turbine
and wind power equipment. Mr. Sacco is a strong believer in
wind power and other clean energy sources.
Lael Smith is the mother of four
school aged children, two of whom attend middle school in
Medford. Her emphasis is in educating children about renewable
energy. As a member of the MCEC she has facilitated field
trips to IBEW's wind turbine and the facility at Hull. She
is a member of the Roberts School Council in Medford. Currently
she works as a Treasurer and Advisor for a small non-profit
that provides education and support for adults.
